Re: Mrs Jasmine Thompson, aged 75


Mrs Thompson who has been recuperating from right total shoulder replacement requires nursing assistance from your services who is being discharged today.


Post operatively, the suture site and the drain area are healthy without any infection. The blood investigation reports are unremarkable. Patient’s pain is well managed with oral pain killers and with applicatio of ice-pack compression to right shoulder. Exhibited grief with exercise and physiotherapy.


The nursing management included frequent monitoring of vital signs evaluation of neurovascular assessment and the wound care.


On discharge, the patient was emphasied to wear arm sling for 4 weeks and to discourage to lift heavy objects atleast for one month.


Ms Thompson requires nursing assistance for her ADL’s like showering, for adminstration of inj. Elevane subcutaneously for 4 days to avoid DVT. On 10th post-operative day wound staples to be removed. Seek approinment and follow-up with Orthopaedic Joint Replacement Outpatient Department and also Nurse Specialist can be communicated by calling hospital for any difficulties.
